• Better Boxwood Skylight™ grows well in USDA zones 5-9 and prefers well-drained soil to prevent root rot. It’s adaptable to a variety of soil types, including acidic, alkaline, clay, and sandy soils, but good drainage is essential.
• These shrubs perform best in partial shade to dappled sunlight but can tolerate full sun. In hot climates, Skylight™ benefits from afternoon shade to avoid excessive heat stress. Ideally, the plant should receive 4-6 hours of morning sun for optimal growth. If planted in heavy shade, its growth may become more open and less dense.
• In colder regions, planting in a sheltered location can help protect the shrub from harsh winter winds, reducing the risk of winter damage.

When planting Better Boxwood Skylight™, follow these steps for success:

• Soil Preparation: Amend the soil with organic matter like compost to improve its structure and drainage if necessary, especially if you’re working with clay or sandy soil.
• Digging the Hole: Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and as deep as the plant’s root system. This allows the roots to spread easily. If the plant is root-bound, gently loosen the roots before placing it in the hole to promote healthy growth.
• Placing the Shrub: Position the boxwood in the hole so that the top of the root ball is level with or slightly above the surrounding soil. This prevents water from pooling around the base, which can lead to rot.
• Backfilling and Watering: Fill the hole with soil, firm it gently, and water thoroughly to eliminate any air pockets. Ensure the soil around the roots is settled without being over-compacted.

• In colder climates, Better Boxwood Skylight™ may experience winter damage from harsh winds and fluctuating temperatures. To protect the roots, apply a layer of mulch before winter. For added protection, particularly in regions with severe winters, consider wrapping the shrub in burlap to shield it from cold winds and prevent winter burn.
